Iridium 9555 - How-to Guides

The Iridium 9555 packs a lot of power into a small handset. It is light, compact, and easy to use straight out of the box. Simultaneously, its rugged design is engineered to withstand tough conditions and environments while connecting to the only truly global mobile network.

Insert your SIM card if necessary, and hold the On/Off button for five seconds. When the phone has switched on the screen will display a short animated sequence. If the SIM is valid, the phone will begin searching for the network and display ‘Registered’ when it has connected to the network.

To switch the device off, hold the same On/Off button until the screen turns off.

In order for your phone to connect to the satellite network you must have a clear, direct view of the sky with the antenna extended and pointing upwards, holding the phone like you would any other phone.

The screen will display ‘Searching for network...’ and ‘Registered’ when the connection is complete.

When your phone is connected to the network and the antenna extended upwards, you can make and receive calls from anywhere in the world.

When dialing a number, simply enter the phone number in international format and press the green key. When your phones antenna is fully extended, the screen will then display ‘Calling’ followed by the number you dialed. To end the call press the red key, and to re-dial the last number called press the green key twice.

To receive a call your phone must be connected to the network. In order to answer the call, the antenna must be fully extended – this is indicated by two lines at the base of the antenna which must be visible. You can then select ‘Accept’ above the left soft key, or ‘Reject’ above the right soft key.

To send a text message start at the ‘Main Menu’ and select ‘Messages’ then select ‘Create Message’ using the left soft key. Type your message using the keypad then press the left soft key labelled ‘Options’. Use the left soft key to select ‘Send’, taking you to the ‘Send To’ screen. Use the right soft key labelled ‘Add’ to add the recipients you wish to message. Press the left soft key labelled ‘Ok’ then lastly select the left soft key labelled ‘Send’ to send the message.

To message a contact in your phonebook, start at the ‘Main Menu’ and highlight the phonebook you would like to use, then press the left soft key labelled ‘Select’. The phonebook will now be displayed, and you can select which entry you would like to contact. Press the left soft key labelled ‘Options’ and select ‘SMS’. Type your message using the keypad, then press the left soft key labelled ‘Options’ and select ‘Send’. A ‘Send To’ screen will appear with the recipient name and number; you can press the left soft key to send or the right soft key to add additional recipients.
