The data card will not find the Network, what do I do?

What do you get for a Megabyte (Mb)?

 

The data card will not find the Network, what do I do?

Remove the SIM from the data card and place in a mobile phone.
You will need to choose to manually roam on to the network that you want to use for your data connection. (You may need to contact the phone manufacturer for instructions on how to manually roam).
Once you are connected on the network leave the SIM in phone for about ten minutes.
Make a couple of calls and try to browse the net.
This will make sure the card is then registered on the network.
Place the SIM back in the data card and try the connection again.

The data card will not connect after I install the software, what do I do?

Logon to the profile manager on the data card software and edit the profile.
Make sure the APN is set correctly for the network that the SIM card is registered with.
For example for O2 UK the APN is mobile.o2.co.uk.

APN - Access Point Name is the name of an access point for GPRS.

My data card has a 619 error, what do I do?

Check that the APN is entered correctly as per the Cellhire user instructions.
If this doesn't work the software will need uninstalling, then reboot the PC, and reinstall the software.
Make sure when choosing the country you chose the country of origin.
For example if the data card is a UK Vodafone data card, chose United Kingdom as the country.

APN - Access Point Name is the name of an access point for GPRS.
GPRS - General Packet Radio Service is a Mobile Data Service available to users of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)

The connect button on the browser will not connect the 3G router unit to the network, what do I do?

Reset the data card by pressing the button on the underside of the card, using a thin tool (like a paper clip).
You will then be taken through a connection setup wizard.
Make sure that the Access Point Name is entered correctly for your network, given in your instructions.
Once you have applied the settings the data card should find the network and allow you to connect.

I do not know my 3G router's username and password for the connection settings?

I cannot connect to the 3G router unit via the browser?

Check that your PC has DHCP enabled in your network settings. .
On the browser make sure that the local area connection is set to Automatically Detect Proxy.
Finally make sure that there are no other ISP's that are set as the default connection.
You may need your IT Dept or Technical Support to assist in checking these settings.

DHCP is a protocol used by networked computers (clients) to obtain IP addresses and other parameters.
ISP - Internet service provider

What do you get for a Megabyte (Mb)?

Some examples of what you can receive for a megabyte include: 1000 standard WAP pages ( in black and white ), 150-200 WAP pages ( in colour ), 200 PDA web pages ( text only ), 100 PDA web pages
( pictures ), 30 web pages as you would see on a laptop and 100 standard e-mails ( plain text without attachments ).

WAP is an open international standard for applications that use wireless communication.
