Ensure the phone is setup to the correct mode:
Press the Menu key and scroll to Settings, press select.
Scroll to Phone Settings, press select.
Scroll to Network Mode or System Mode, press select.
The phone must be set to either of the following:
GSM - Using in 900/1800 MHz countries.
Dual System - Switches the handset automatically.
WCDMA - Use when Dual System Not Operational.
Note: If one mode is not working have the customer switch to the alternate mode.
In the Dual System (operation in both GSM/EGSM and UMTS networks) mode, the phone selects the GSM or UMTS network automatically according to the network parameters and the roaming
agreements between network operators.
The local US provider will need to subscribe to this service in order to be utilized.
The Nokia 6650 phone is not compatible to the GSM 1900 operating frequency used in North America.
Please note that whether your phone can be used in certain areas depends on the services provided by your SIM Card provider.
Search for Available Networks:
Press the Menu button and scroll to Settings, press select.
Scroll to Phone Settings, press select.
Scroll to Network Selection, press select.
Change to Manual, select.
The screen will now say "Searching".
Choose the appropriate network when list is displayed.

Scroll to 'Master Reset', press 'Select'.

If you have a signal (Name of network should be appearing across the standby screen) and can not call out, the trouble may be incorrect dialing
patterns or the network provider you are currently registered with does not have a roaming agreement with the service provider we assigned for the
rental.
To troubleshoot this problem yourself:
Verify the band is set correctly:
In standby mode press MENU key and Select Settings.
Scroll down and Select Network.
Scroll down and Select Network Search.
Highlight "Band" and Select Change.
Select Automatic, select 1900, select WCDMA.
Search for Available Network:
In standby mode press MENU key and Select Settings.
Scroll down and Select Network.
Scroll down and Select Available Networks.
Phone will automatically search for Networks.
Once list of Network Providers is displayed, press the MENU key.
The network number or name should appear.
Select "Register".
Phone should then register onto the chosen network.
